For our second day, we ambitously woke up and headed off to the gym. Overnight the boat was rocking quite a bit and it seems to have given Simon a bit of an unsettled stomach. The boat continued its rocking and both of us tried to use the treadmill. Simon, intelligently wasn’t having any of it and switched to a bike, but I continued to persavere with the treadmill.
By the time we finished and got back to the room, Simon was feeling even worse and I headed off to the shops onboard the ship to see if they had anything for sea-seakness. They did and I headed back to the room. It wasn’t a miracle cure though and I headed off to the Cruise Critic meetup and found Simon at the end of the session still looking a bit worse for the wear. We went to ground (middle of the ship lower decks in fact) and got a coffee and did some reading. We felt enough to go for lunch in the main dining room. The first time we have ever had lunch in a MDR on a cruise ship. The fare was adequate and it seemed SImon was getting a bit better.
An afternoon of trivia (we clearly are not good at 50s music, by the way), a quick nap (as is our gift while on holiday) and down to the one of the lounges to hear Alex Finardi, who is the ships solo guitarist and vocalist (and a drink, which is also our gift while on holiday).
Like we usually seem to do on formal nights, we still dressed up, but instaead of dealing with the pomp and circumstance of the main dining room, we headed up to the buffet. This was our first visit to the buffet on this ship and like pretty much everything else compared to our previious cruise on Celebrity, an improvement, and we enjoyed our previous voyage.
We also hit the “Edge” show, which was one of the big production shows onboard. Simon really enjoyed it and while I wasn’t annoyed by it, if I had paid for it in real life, I might have found it wanting.
